Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan residents asked to save water

Seqwater is continuing to ask residents in Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan to save water.

This extreme weather has impacted the Mt Crosby Water Treatment Plants which have been temporarily operating at reduced capacity since Saturday.

This is as a result of flood waters washing soil and debris into the creeks and waterways, which flow into the treatment plants.

Rainfall has eased in the catchments and the raw water quality is improving. The releases being made from Wivenhoe Dam are flowing downstream to the Mount Crosby Water Treatment Plants, and are helping to ‘turnover’ the raw water.

Whilst production from the water treatment plants continues to increase we’re asking residents in Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan to continue to save water as a precaution only. Any reduction in water use over the next couple of days will greatly assist in managing water supply through this weather event.

The drinking water being supplied to homes and businesses remains safe to drink and meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. There is no need to boil your water or buy bottled water.

Our crews are working hard to get the treatment plants back to normal operations and we appreciate everyone's efforts so far.

Seqwater is moving water around the SEQ Water Grid and using the Gold Coast Desalination Plant to help supplement supplies.

Seqwater is working closely with its water supply partners, Urban Utilities and Logan City Council to keep people updated.
