Investigative works on the Leslie Harrison Dam spillway will commence this month as part of Seqwater’s Dam Improvement Program.
The works, which will span approximately eight weeks (subject to weather conditions) will involve some drilling and excavation work on the spillway.
During this work some of the dam gates will be closed to ensure the safety of our staff and contractors that will accessing the spillway. One gate will remain open at all times to ensure that the temporary full supply level is maintained.
Normal work hours will be between 6.30 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Saturday. No after hours or public holiday works are planned at this stage.
What to expect:
- Some construction noise during the works, mainly drilling and excavation works.
- Seqwater contractors accessing the reservoir area with maintenance vehicles and construction machinery (including cranes) via Willowie Crescent.
Once this this investigative work is completed, the spillway gates will be temporarily removed and stored on site, so whenever the dam reaches its temporary full supply level, water will flow over the spillway out of the dam into Tingalpa Creek. This mode of operation has been agreed with the Dam Safety Regulator and with Redland City Council.
We will continue to keep a close watch on the dam environment and we ask dam neighbours and visitors to report any problems by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling us on 1800 771 497.
