Construction has commenced on the Staged Strengthening project at North Pine Dam to deliver enhanced safety benefits ahead of further structural upgrades being assessed as part of the North Pine Dam Improvement Project.  

As part of the Staged Strengthening project, SRG Global Civil Pty Ltd will temporarily close a section of the McGavin View Park recreation area closest to the North Pine Dam wall from 2 February 2026. 

The closure is required for safe construction access to complete specialised drilling activities.  

The area is outlined in the below above, with the yellow line indicating temporary rigid fencing which is expected to remain in place for a minimum of six months. 

What to expect?

• Temporary fencing and closure of the designated area.  
• Small reduction of public car spaces.  
• Workers in high visibility clothing and personal protective equipment around this area of McGavin View Park.  
• Dam crest access by vehicles and equipment from McGavin View Park. 
• Noise from construction activities, with work hours Monday to Saturday from 6am to 6pm. 

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts to the local community while works are undertaken.
