Conserve water request for Kilcoy lifted

Seqwater advises the Kilcoy Water Treatment Plant is back online, with reservoir levels restored.

The request for Kilcoy businesses and residents to conserve water has been lifted. We thank the community for their efforts in using water wisely during this time.

The Kilcoy drinking water being supplied to homes and businesses remains safe to drink and continues to be treated to the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Manganese levels in the raw water source supplying the water treatment plant have returned to normal levels.

Seqwater and Urban Utilities are asking residents and businesses in Kilcoy to conserve water for essential purposes over the next 24 hours and save on water usage where possible due to an unexpected outage at the Kilcoy Water Treatment Plant.

Significantly elevated manganese levels were detected from the raw water source to the Kilcoy Water Treatment Plant this afternoon, triggering the plant to shut down.

The Kilcoy Water Treatment Plant is currently offline due to challenging raw water conditions. Seqwater has a crew on site working to bring the water treatment plant back online as quickly as possible.

Residents are asked to shorten showers and minimise their water use where possible. Every little bit helps and savings on water use over the next day will help bolster water storages while Seqwater responds to the raw water conditions.

The Kilcoy drinking water being supplied to homes and businesses remains safe to drink and continues to be treated to the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Seqwater’s on-site crew are currently flushing the plant and investigating an alternative raw water source to bring the plant back online, which may take several hours.

We thank the community for their cooperation and commitment to using water wisely during the next few days.
