SMBI Residents: Water being restored. Run your taps to flush.

Water has been progressively restored to Karragarra, Macleay and Lamb islands on Redlands Coast Sunday.

A burst water main on Karragarra Island was successfully replaced overnight and drinking water has been restored to island residents from mid-morning.

The water is safe to drink. Treated water samples have been taken at various points along the network and laboratory tested to ensure there is no concern for public health.

There may be some air in residential pipes or some discoloured water when residents first turn on their tap.

Residents are advised to let the water run for 2-3 minutes to clear. The tap water will be safe to drink.

We thank residents of the Karragarra, Lamb and Macleay Islands for their patience while these essential repairs were completed. Thank you to Redland City Council staff, community champions, Rural Fire Service, SES, ferry operators and community members for helping to get information out to island residents.
