Last Updated: Friday, 28 November, 2025 - 14:16
Seqwater wishes to advise that a scheduled aerial application of fire ant baiting will be occurring at Lake Wyaralong on Monday, 1 December and Tuesday, 2 December 2025 as part of the coordinated South East Queensland Fire Ant Suppression Program.
Purpose of Works
This treatment is part of targeted pest management activities designed to suppress and eradicate fire ant populations in the region. The application of bait by helicopter allows for efficient coverage of large and hard-to-access areas, ensuring effective treatment while minimising on-ground disturbance.
What Visitors Can Expect
• A helicopter will operate over selected land areas surrounding Lake Wyaralong intermittently throughout the treatment window.
• All aerial operations will be conducted at low to moderate altitude and within approved flight paths.
• Recreation areas, water-based activities and public access to the dam will remain open; however, visitors may experience temporary noise from helicopter operations.
Safety Information
• Please remain clear of operational areas and follow any directions from Seqwater staff or contractors.
• Do not approach the helicopter or any equipment associated with the treatment.
