Billies Bay and Hays Landing, located on the eastern side of Lake Wivenhoe, have been transformed into a new recreation destination catering for BBQs, picnics, swimming, fishing, paddling and sailing.
Both sites are officially opened to the public from Saturday 10 December 2016.
Minister for Energy and Water Supply Mark Bailey attended a sneak preview of the site as part of Seqwater’s annual Play it safe day on Tuesday 22 November 2016.
The finishing touches were put on the sites this week and they are now ready for South East Queenslanders to enjoy as summer school holidays begin.
Seqwater partnered with the State Government and Somerset Regional Council to establish the new recreation site.
Access to the site, which is effectively an island located in the middle of Wivenhoe Dam, has been upgraded with new bridge and resurfaced the road. The improved recreation areas will boast a double lane boat ramp as well as swimming and picnic facilities.
