From late-September to early-November 2016, Seqwater will be working on the breezeway at Somerset Dam, as part of the Dam Improvement Program.
The upgrade will involve filling in the breezeway bays (gaps) along the dam wall with concrete to increase the dam’s flood capacity, while investigations continue into further improvement works at the dam.
Work will take about three months to complete, subject to weather conditions. Work hours are between 7am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. There will be no changes to local traffic conditions or recreation in and around the lake as a result of this work.
We will minimise disruptions where possible and take every precaution to keep construction areas safe. If you are in the area, please follow the instructions of our workers and signage, and do not pass any barricades.
Somerset Dam is one of a number of dams across the region to be upgraded. The dam plays an important role in the SEQ Water Grid and its continued performance and safety is critical to South East Queenslanders.
