Seqwater is warning South East Queensland residents to watch out for a potential scam involving a fake water survey.
A report has been received from a member the public saying they had received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Seqwater and asked the person to take part in a water survey.
The caller stated that by participating in the survey, the person would be entitled to a free water purifier valued between $400 and $500, if they paid a delivery fee of $149.
Seqwater is not currently conducting any surveys and does not condone any activities that attempt to take money from people under false pretences.
Seqwater is advising anyone who receives a call regarding this survey to contact the Office of Fair Trading, either through the website www.fairtrading.qld.gov.auor by phoning 13 74 68.
Reporting the potential scam to the Office of Fair Trading could stop other consumers from being caught out.
While Seqwater does occasionally conduct surveys, never at any time will money be requested from participants.
