SEQ Water Grid

Seqwater is one partner in the new South East Queensland Water Grid, which brings together diversified water supplies, distribution methods and water industry organisations to diversity and interconnect new and existing water sources across the region.

Seqwater works in close collaboration with other water grid members and secure our water supply now and for the future. In addition to Seqwater, the other members of the Queensland Water Grid are:

The Queensland Manufactured Water Authority (WaterSecure) supplies water from the Tugun Desalination Plant and the Western Corridor Water Recycled Water Project to the SEQ Water Grid Manager, power stations and in the future, Wivenhoe Dam.

The Queensland Bulk Water Transport Authority (LinkWater) moves water from dams and other water sources through bulk pipeline networks. Linkwater is required to sell all its water services (transport from the Bulk Supply and Manufactured Water sources to the Distribution Entity’s network) to the Water Grid Manager.

The Water Grid Manager oversees operation of Water Grid functions and flow of water around the Grid allowing for the sharing of costs.  It purchases bulk water and water transport services, and sells treated water to Retail Businesses.
