Earlier this year, Seqwater began cleaning and painting more than three kilometres of above ground pipelines in Mt Crosby, Karana Downs and Anstead.
Recoating protects pipelines from surface corrosion to extend their service life and is required about every 15 years. The pipelines are part of the SEQ Water Grid – a connected network of dams, water treatment plants, reservoirs, pump stations and pipelines. The grid allows us to move water around the region, from Noosa in the north, to Coolangatta in the south and west to the Lockyer Valley.
Work in Anstead was expected to be completed in October 2017, however wet weather and other unexpected delays have impacted completion timeframes at the following sites:
- Pipeline from Kangaroo Gully Road towards Hawkesbury Road
- Pipeline from Chalcot Road to Hawkesbury Road.
We now expect work to be complete early-2018.
Work sites in Anstead will be dismantled during the holiday period and activities are expected to resume the week starting Monday 4 January 2018, subject to weather conditions.
If you have questions about the project over the holidays, please call the project hotline on 0439 493 328 to leave a message, and a member of the project team will get back to you the week starting Monday 4 January.
