The Business Water Efficiency Program (BWEP) is a Queensland Government initiative providing $55 million in incentive funding to help Queensland businesses save water
Funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Recreation, managed by SEQWater and delivered locally by councils and water service providers, the program can help your business to:
reduce water consumption
save money
minimise its environmental footprint and
build a community profile as a water efficient business.
Our aim is to reduce the consumption of reticulated (drinking) water by businesses across Queensland by 20 million litres a day – the equivalent of eight Olympic swimming pools of water.

Rebate applications close at 5pm on 8 August 2008. No further rebate applications will be accepted after this date.
As BWEP funds are limited, eligible applications will only be approved if funding is available.
South East Queensland - savings target 12 million litres a day
Applications closed
Due to the overwhelming response to the Business Water Efficiency Program in South East Queensland, the program funding of $40 million has now been fully committed to water efficiency projects. Eligible applications that have not yet been approved will only be funded if funds become available due to previously approved applications being withdrawn or projects not being completed on time.
BWEP projects must be completed by the regulated date of 30 April 2008.
Projects with expected water savings of more than 200,000 litres a day may be granted an extension to 31 December 2008.
Who can apply?
BWEP funding is available to private businesses in Queensland that consumed more than one million litres of reticulated water in 2005-06.
What funding is available?
BWEP offers two types of funding:
Rebates to help meet the cost of replacing existing showerheads, taps, toilet suites and clothes washing machines with water efficient models
Subsidies to help meet the cost of water efficiency projects.
